Singapore tourism receipts escalate

Tourist receipts almost doubled in Singapore for the first months of 2010, with a 47 percent increase compared to the same period 2009.The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) contributed the $13.7 billion tourist expenditure to increased arrivals, higher per capita spending and extra spending at resorts, The Straits Times reported.
After reviewing number for the first nine months of 2010, the STB said they were likely to meet tourism receipts predictions of $17.5 to $18.5 billion.According to the STB Indonesian, Indian and Chinese visitors were amongst the highest spenders in 2010.The board added visitor arrivals in October reached a record high with a 15.8 percent to 978,000, the 11th consecutive month to reach a new record in visitor arrivals.
