AirAsia X taps Middle East market

Airasia X will launch its first Middle East route with a five-weekly service from Kuala Lumpur to Abu Dhabi, from November 23.

World Avenues executive director Ally Bhoonee said the connection is fantastic as it would appeal to the price-sensitive segments such as the youth market and expatriates in the Middle East who travel to Asia.

"The general perception of the trade is that all travellers from the Middle East are super rich. However, over 60 per cent of the population working in the Middle East are expatriates from Third World countries."

"I will promote packages that will appeal to these segments such as nature packages and cultural packages combining the two East Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak with peninsular Malaysia," Bhoonee added.
