Japan’s Royals pay respects

TOKYO (NNT): Japan’s Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko are mourning the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand, the Imperial Household Agency announced Sunday.

The Imperial Household Agency said the Emperor and the Empress have been mourning the demise of the Late HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej since Thursday night, 13 October. The agency said the Royal mourning ceremonies extended for three days.

The Thai Royal Family and the Japanese Imperial Family have enjoyed a close relationship for more than half a century.

inside no 2The Emperor and the Empress have known His Majesty King Bhumibol since they were Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Japan.

In the meantime, Prime Minister Shizo Abe of Japan has visited the Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo to express his condolences and sign the condolence book.
