BANGKOK Street vendors are banned from selling products in areas around the Grand Palace, to reduce traffic congestion, while authorities report they have stepped up security and have added more CCTVs.
Bangkok Deputy Governor, Amnuay Nimmano, disclosed that the Joint Administration Centre for Maintaining Peace and Order has asked street vendors to move away from the immediate vicinity of the Grand Palace.
Municipal authorities will strictly patrol the areas and violators will be immediately prosecuted, he said.
For safety measures, more CCTVs have been installed and police are monitoring the area to reduce criminal activities. Vendors who over charge mourners visiting the Grand Palace will be prosecuted.
There are concerns for the welfare of families and children and authorities are warning parents to keep a close eye on their children. The vast crowds at the Grand Palace increase the risk of children being lost or separated from their parents.
Food distribution will continue until 2000 daily, while drinking water is being distributed around the clock, according to the Bangkok Deputy Governor.
