Mr MacLean’s career started in 1975 with the InterContinental Hotel Group in the UK, moving 10 years later to Australia with Hilton International.

He was one of the first hoteliers to work in Myanmar after the first national elections, when he managed a five-star floating hotel docked in the city harbour that was owned by Thailand’s Central Group.

He has lived in Vietnam for the past decade, having worked for Furama Danang before taking the leadership role at The Anam.

Joining Mr Maclean is Martin Koerner as director of sales and marketing, formerly from the board of directors of leading Asia-wide hospitality consortium HG Holdings.

Other team members include Thi Vo Hoai Thi assistant director of sales and marketing who previously worked with InterContinental Hotel Group and Six Senses Group, and Ms Nguyen Thi Lien previously with five-star Amiana Resort Nha Trang who join the hotel as reservations and yield manager.

“After four decades in the hotel industry, I can truly say this destination and this property are poised to achieve something very special,” said MacLean. “The all-villa resort is in an incredible beachfront location on the northern Cam Ranh Peninsula, the product itself is first class, combining colonial charm, service and style – and the team is strong and dynamic.”

The Anam soft opened in Q3 of this year, offering a 40% discount until 20 December when it is set to be fully operational with all facilities and services.

Located 15 minutes from Cam Ranh International Airport, and 30 minutes from the city centre, The Anam harks back to a bygone era of natural sophistication with a philosophy of “No Shoes. No News. No Stress”.

Each of the 117 villas are finished in Vietnamese hardwood, decorative stone and antique style tiling.

Signature features are the resort’s Sri Mara Spa, a Beach Club, a 600 sqm swimming pool, and its Indochine Café.
