SHAN STATE A night market will be introduced next January in Nyaungshwe, one of the main tourist destinations in Shan State.
Global New Light of Myanmar reported local government confirmed the night market will open daily from 1600 to 2300.
It will feature a variety of stalls selling food and traditional handicrafts.
Around 20 restaurants, 15 small shops and 20 souvenir shops have said they will have stalls at the market.
Priority will be given to members of the Myanmar Hoteliers Association, Myanmar Restaurants Association and Myanmar Souvenir Entrepreneurs Association to open restaurants and souvenir shops.
The project is being implemented by the Myanmar Hoteliers Association in partnership with the Myanmar Restaurants Association.
Nyaungshwe, the principal town in the Inlay Lake area, tops the list of the most popular destinations after Yangon, Mandalay and Bagan.
Approximately 600 foreign tourists visit Nyaungshwe every day town officials claimed.
Shan State borders China to the north, Laos to the east, and Thailand to the south, and five administrative divisions of Myanmar in the west.
