SAMUI Samui a popular island holiday destination on the Gulf Thailand was inundated with floods that submerged guesthouses and shops in tourist districts.
Meanwhile, two villagers were believed to be drowned after they were swept away by strong currents from flash flood that hit Phatthalung province, also in South Thailand.
Flash floods hit popular tourist destinations and towns along the Gulf of Thailand over the weekend, but Samui was the hardest hit.
Damage to villages, set back from popular bays frequented by tourists was extensive. Tourists were clamouring to leave the resort island cutting their holidays short after days of heavy rain.
In Nakhon Si Thammarat, provincial administration reported that seven of nine districts were hit by flash flood since Saturday. Three people were reported to have died from flood-related incidents.
