DANANG Embassies of Australia and the UK in Vietnam opened visa application centres, Tuesday, in Vietnam’s central city of Danang.
Local media reported the centres are located in the ACB Building on Bach Dang Street in Hai Chau district.
Visa applicants, residing in central Vietnam, will no longer have to travel to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City to submit their documents, the report said.
Embassies and consulates in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will continue to accept visa applications, but for residents in central Vietnam they will no longer need to make the inconvenient and costly trip to apply for a holiday visa.
While recognised as an emerging tourist destination in its own right, Danang has a sizeable population of people with the cash to travel overseas. Australia and the UK are among their favourite destinations, after they have travelled to neighbouring destinations.
However, the hassle of applying for a visa, which involved an expensive and time consuming trip to either Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, was a serious obstacle.
Danang is Vietnam’s third largest city located on the eastern coast, midway between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
