SINGAPORE - The majestic Raffles Hotel Singapore, celebrates its 130th anniversary this year. Since 1887, when the doors to Raffles Hotel Singapore first opened, this luxurious five star hotel has become an icon that epitomises the romance of the Far East – a seductive blend of luxury, history and colonial memories.

Over the years, among the famous patrons who have walked through the ornate wrought-iron portico, are Somerset Maugham, Rudyard Kipling and Michael Jackson. Today, esteemed guests such as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, George Bush, Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Louboutin and Johnny Depp, find themselves drawn to the hotel.

Declared a National Monument in 1987, the hotel has moved with the times while perfectly preserving its classic colonial architecture. This year, the hotel intends to embark on a sensitive restoration, as it adapts to the changing needs of today’s traveller while retaining what is special about the hotel – the warm ambiance, the service, the charm and the heritage of the hotel. The undertaking, which will take a phased approach and be completed in middle of 2018, will reimagine the facilities, spaces and experiences within the hotel to delight the well-travelled and the community.

For our 130th anniversary, it is our wish that all our guests will create their own special memories with us and rediscover what makes the hotel so special. From enjoying a staycation, to dining at our world-renowned restaurants and bars, there will be many reasons for local and international visitors alike to celebrate with us,” said Simon Hirst, General Manager, Raffles Hotel Singapore.

In line with the festivities, Raffles Hotel Singapore will host a series of events as well as curate attractive stay packages and dining offers for visitors.
