PATTAYA Pattaya’s fast ferry service to Hua Hin directly across the Gulf of Thailand was officially launched, Sunday, by Minister of Transport, Arkhom Termpittayapaisith.
After a series technical delays, bad weather and confusion over ticket sales, the new service sailed out of Pattaya bay from the Bali Hai pier on the two-hour trip to Hua Hin.
National News Bureau of Thailand said the ferry service is part of the government’s policy to develop sea connections for tourists vising resorts on both sides of the Gulf of Thailand.
The “Royal One” ferry is a high-speed catamaran with 346 seats, configured with 286 seats in economy class, 44 seats in business class and two 8-seat VIP rooms.
The 116 km sail across the Gulf of Thailand takes two hours instead of five to six hours by car on coastal highways.
