BANGKOK Rembrandt Hotel Bangkok will host ‘Hope Fair’ 28 March.
Established in 2014, Hope Fair will attract more than 100 artisans, craft makers, chefs, and delicatessen outlets.
Vendors are selected for their history, their product lines and what they can offer the community.
Many of the products are home, or handmade and the food is mainly organic; healthy, natural and mostly direct from the source to the fair.
An assorted range of home-ware will also be on offer. Cosmetics and heath products made from natural ingredients will be available, as well as wellness and healthy lifestyle tips.
All the participating vendors donate to the Mercy Centre of Klong Toey. The centre conducts a shelter for street kids. It is home to five orphanages, a hospice, and a residence for mothers and children with HIV/AIDS.
There is also a 400-student kindergarten, a community meeting place, and serene havens in some disadvantaged areas with small gardens and playgrounds.
The organisation has 23 pre-schools, supporting over 3000 children, five days a week and all in different underprivileged communities.
Since its creation, the Hope Fair community, with the support of the Rembrandt Hotel has raised more than THB300,000. Rembrandt Hotel Bangkok general manager, Eric Hallin, said the Rembrandt Hotel would continue to participate in the Hope Fair, which also supports approximately 10 other charities at each event by providing non-profit community groups the opportunity to sell their wares. All revenue from sales will go directly to the communities they are supporting.
