HANOI Japan National Tourism Organisation opened a representative office in Hanoi, last week, to support local travel agencies to create new tour content featuring Japan and introduce consumer campaigns.
Local media quoted Vietnam National Administration of Tourism director, Nguyen Van Tuan, saying the opening of the JNTO representative office in Vietnam capital city could be used to promote two-way tourism.
JNTO’s primary goal is to develop outbound travel to Japan and Vietnam has been identified as a key market. But the agency will also assist VNAT to build contacts to improve tourist arrival from Japan.
Vietnam recorded an average growth rate of 9% annually in Japanese tourist arrivals over the past six years, Last year, Vietnam welcomed 740,592 Japanese travellers up 10.3% from 2015.
JNTO Representative Office in Vietnam head, Takahashi Ayumi, added the office will introduce Japan’s main destinations to Vietnamese travellers and encourage travel agents in Vietnam to introduce more tours featuring Japan. The key competitors are Taiwan and South Korea, both tapping the emerging Vietnamese outbound travel market.
