We are with Carlos Muñoz, the Managing Director of Hotelbeds in Bangkok for the 1st MarketHub Conference in Asia. In the video interview below Mr Carlos Muñoz replies to the following questions:
- TravelDailyNews: Mr Muñoz, “Powered by data driven by People” is the theme of the 1st MarketHub in Asia. How much you expect big data to change strategic decision, operation, services and at the end the customer experience?
- TDN: The distribution funnel changed radically with the evolution of digital technology. Where do you see the future role of bedbanks in this environment?
- TDN: Travel agents managed to survive the internet evolution because they were transformed to travel consultants offering personalized services. Today, new technologies are also able to offer personalized services. How should be the next reaction of the travel agents?
- TDN: Hotelbeds recently announced the acquisition of Tourico and GTA. Could you please elaborate on this topic and give us more information about the stage that we are now?
Carlos Muñoz developed his career in the Aeronautical and Telecommunication industries, with positions at Retevisión, BT and GMV. He has been in the travel industry since 1999 when he joined the Barceló Travel Group.
Following the integration of Barceló Destination Services into First Choice Holidays PLC (UK) in 2000, Carlos was appointed Operations Director for Hotelbeds in 2001, later becoming Managing Director in 2008. In 2015 he was appointed Managing Director of the Bedbank Business Unit for Hotelbeds Group.
