BANGKOK - Starting 2017, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has implemented its re-assessment (Air Operator Certificate Recertification - AOCR) of all Thai carriers as part of the requirement by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for removing the red flag placed on Thailand aviation since 2015. The recertification program has been conducted in sequence based on operational scope of the local airlines in Thailand.
At the end of August 2017, the re-certification was completed for first group of 9 airlines accounting for majority of fleet and network coverage in Thailand. Other airlines are still undergoing the process.
Thai Vietjet is currently undergoing the final stage for the phase 4, conducted by Civil Aviation Authority International (CAAI) and CAAT. According to Dr. Chula Sukmanop, Director General of CAAT, the carrier will be granted new AOC in October 2017 after completion of the assessment and may start international services immediately.
