Malaysia Airlines launches direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Istanbul

Malaysia Airlines announces new direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Istanbul effective October 25, 2009. Air tickets for the flights are on sale now at www.malaysiaairlines.com

The Kuala Lumpur - Istanbul services will also be increased to 3 times weekly from the existing 2 times weekly to accommodate the increasing demand on the route.

Malaysia Airlines Senior General Manager, Network & Revenue Management, Dr Amin Khan said, "We will be de-linking Dubai from Istanbul. Instead, we will be flying direct to Istanbul as we see the great potential of the destination.  This non-stop service will certainly provide customers with a better product resulting in passengers spending less time on the plane and more time at their destination.

"Malaysia Airlines' low fares and excellent services will also stimulate more travel both inbound and outbound from these two destinations. In line with the Business Transformation Plan, we are also building the network flow by connecting Australia and Turkey through KLIA," he added.

Malaysia Airlines' flight MH30 departs Kuala Lumpur every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 12.30am and arrives in Istanbul at 6.00am (local time) on the same day. The inbound flight MH31 departs Istanbul at 3.00pm on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday to arrive in Kuala Lumpur the next day at 7.05am.

Malaysia Airlines commenced air services to Middle East in 1974 with flights to Dubai. The global reach of Malaysia Airlines was further extended when it operated a flight between Turkey and Malaysia, linking Istanbul and Kuala Lumpur via Dubai in 1989.
