Tourism operators in far north Queensland have met in Cairns this week to discuss ways to improve an industry still reeling from the effects of the state’s recent floods.
According to Tourism Queensland (TQ) chief executive Anthony Hayes, operators are still suffering because of coverage of the state's floods and cyclones, ABC News reported.
"The feedback in the room is that people are really feeling it and doing it really tough, and I guess one of the messages that we're trying to get across is 'we get that'," Mr said."We know that things are really horrible and we're not just plodding along doing the same old stuff that we've always done.
"We've dragged a lot of things forward, we've restructured budgets, we've restructured business plans."
In a concerted effort to revive the struggling industry, TQ has confirmed that it is currently planning "aggressive" international marketing campaigns, the ABC reported.
