Southeast Asia’s Newest Charity “The Exo Foundation” Is In Good...

Leading destination management company Exotissimo Travel is pleased to announce the cornerstone of their responsible travel mission with the launch of the ‘The Exo Foundation’. The charitable arm of the organization, established as a supplementary branch of Exotissimo Travel.

During Exotissimo’s 18 years of operation they have played an active part across their destinations in supporting and contributing to charitable causes; through ongoing donations to local initiatives, reactive support to crises in the region such as the floods in Vietnam and Cambodia in 1999, corporations with NGOs and helping to sustain charitable enterprises through visits within programs.

In response to the 2007 Cyclone Nargis tragedy, Exo raised over 200,000 US Dollars, which included a substantial contribution from travel partners and clients. Exo realized that many of their partners were looking for trust-worthy organizations where they could donate their money and ensure that it was being used in a positive, effective manner. Thus, decided to set up the Exo Foundation with the goal being to provide a transparent, efficient system through which we could contribute and raise funds for regional projects.

The Exo Foundation seeks to shape sustainable development in Asia, in order to ensure the preservation of the incredible natural and cultural heritage shared by the region. Making use of their extensive network of travelers and partners, the Foundations outlined objective is to raise awareness for and channel support to charitable projects in the region. Apart from generating support for established projects, the Foundation will also support new grassroots initiatives focusing on the improvement of livelihoods, the empowerment of disadvantaged and the conservation of the environment.

In support of the fund Exotissimo Travel continues its pledge to donate 1 USD per traveler. Furthermore, for the future it is planned to provide agents with the opportunity to do the same by adding the option to donate 1 USD per traveler on each invoice.

CEO Olivier Colomés said this, “I am very pleased to announce the launch of the Exo Foundation which will in effect officially formalize 18 years of commitment from our group and people in the region. A responsible approach that follows the philosophy of our company and no doubt many of our customers. The Exo Foundation will extend already well-established partnerships with NGOs providing a legal framework for our action. All funds collected will be fully redistributed to local initiatives with a total transparency”.

With offices based throughout the region, Exotissimo are in good stead to further build on their existing and yet to be established relations with NGOs operating within Asia. As a leading tour operator in Asia, it is Exotissimo Travel’s role to continually foster viable tourism as well as to instigate a system of travel that features long-term initiative to raise funds for charitable projects and contributes to the sustainable development of tourism in the region. Striving to maximize the positive effects of travel while minimizing its negative impacts, and ensure that the cultures and natural environments from their destinations continue to flourish.
