New partnership to boost diplomats’ tech skills

Two state-owned institutes this week agreed to work together to train local diplomats in skills related to information and communications technology (ICT).

The National Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations (NIDIR) and the National Institute of Posts and Telecommunications, Information and Communication Technology (NIPTICT) signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop ICT training programmes for officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The signing ceremony was presided over by Prak Sokhonn, the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Chhiv Yiseang, Under Secretary of State of the ministry, said the partnership will help diplomats become more efficient at their jobs by enhancing their ICT capabilities, according to state-owned media AKP.

“It is essential for diplomats to possess developed IT skills, including the use of internet, email, smartphone applications and social media platforms.
