Amadeus bats for sustained tourism growth

Amadeus, a leading travel technology partner and transaction processor for the global travel and tourism industry, has called for the enhancement of skills of tourism people to sustain growth of the tourism industry, which is now emerging as the country’s newest sunshine industry.

For its part, Amadeus general manager Albert Villadolid said they are looking to partner with at least 10 colleges and universities this year to support the professional development of future travel industry workforce in the country.

“By collaborating with colleges and universities nationwide, we will be able assist them in improving their curriculum offerings to best suit the needs of the industry and its students through relevant and current travel content,” Villadolid said.

“We want to ensure that there is a continuous flow of skilled workforce to maintain the industry’s current expansion. A jobs-skills mismatch in the travel and tourism industry must be avoided,” Amadeus said.

Over the past two years, the Amadeus Corporate University (ACU) has partnered with over 20 educational institutions including Cebu Institute of Technology, Columban University, Concordia College, De La Salle University College of Saint Benilde, Far Eastern University, Indiana Aeronautical School.

 La Consolacion College Bacolod, Letran Colleges, Lyceum of the Philippines University Manila and Batangas, Northwestern University, Philippine Christian University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, San Sebastian College, Southville Institute, STI Colleges, University of Caloocan, St. Paul University Manila, Trinity University of Asia, University of the Philippines “ Asian Institute of Tourism, University of San Carlos-Cebu and the University of San Jose Recoletos.

Villadolid said they will be providing all their partner schools with its wide range of e-learning courses that will enable students to learn the intricacies of the travel and tourism industry.

Currently, ACU offers 19 regular courses including modules on Reservations Essentials, Fares Basics, and e-Ticketing.Amadeus is also the first to offer in the country Corporate Travel Expert and Marine Travel Professional certification programs that are recognized internationally.
