Vientiane province fails to achieve its full potential of tourism development due to budgetary shortage, according to an official.
Mr. Ounseng Keodavanh, Party Committee member of Vientiane Province, told the 9th Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party held in Vientiane on 17-21 March that his province was abundant with natural resources suitable for tourism development but it could not make full use of its potential for tourism development as it lacked financial resources.
Mr. Ounseng also attributed the ineffective development of tourism service in the province to the poor development of basic communication infrastructure. He pointed to the tourism potentials in the province, namely “Phathor Norkham” limestone mountain in Feuang district, Tham Khounlane Cave in Kasy district.
And mountainous scenery in Vangvieng district which has been recognised at both international and regional level as well as the traditional and cultural heritages of ethnic local people. “All are the identity and tourism potential of the province,” said Mr. Ounseng.
