PATA to release China Tourism Forecast 2011 to 2013

05 Apr 2011  2037 | World Travel News

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) will be launching its forecasts of travel demand for regional China on Monday April 11, 2011, during the PATA 60th Anniversary and Conference, April 9-12, 2011, at the China World Hotel, Beijing.

China Tourism Forecasts 2011-2013 represents a ‘slice’ of all of the forecasts presented in the PATA mother publication ‘Asia Pacific Tourism Forecasts 2011-2013’, and is specific to the People’s Republic of China.

The forecasts will be launched at a media briefing and will include presentations from John Koldowski, deputy chief executive officer and head, office of strategy management, PATA. Koldowski is regarded as one of the industry’s leading analysts, where he and his team are responsible for the capture, analysis and interpretation of information concerning shifts, movements and/or trends in the travel and tourism industry, particularly those affecting the Asia Pacific region.

This includes monitoring statistics on travel movements; tracking policy and legal developments; identifying changes in consumer preferences and even, destination developments with respect to branding and positioning.

This will be followed by presentations by the Forecasts authors, Professor Lindsay W Turner (from Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia and Professor Stephen F Witt from Surrey University, UK). Both are world-recognised academics specialising in the econometric modelling of tourism demand, tourism forecasting and tourism economics.

Said Koldowski: “This is a first attempt to bring together the national and regional inbound forecasts, so that users have all the pertinent and needed information together in one compendium. These forecasts for regional China illustrate a direction being taken by PATA in recognising that, while the world becomes globalised, it is simultaneously becoming regionalised in quite a distinct manner.”
