MICE tourism is reaping rewards for city firms

Local travel firms have already achieved extraordinary results in the MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention, Exhibition) tourism sector this year. In the first three months of 2011, Saigontourist arranged tours for over 10,000 MICE tourists, including domestic visitors.

It is currently handling a group of 50 tourists from Ukraine on a two-week visit to Hanoi, Halong, Hue, Danang, Hoi An, Nha Trang and HCMC in Vietnam and Siem Reap in Cambodia.Saigontourist, the country’s biggest travel services firm, has prepared four and five-star hotels for the trip.

The travel company said they also arranged overseas leisure-and-business tours for foreign MICE tourists.Other local travel firms said they are also busy fixing schedules for MICE guests from domestic companies and foreign firms based in Vietnam.Fiditour say MICE tourists account for 30% of the number of tourists the company has received this year.

andnbsp;Nguyen Minh Man, media department manager of Vietravel, told the Daily on Monday that within the past three months, his company has received more than 11,000 MICE tourists, up 30% year-on-year.Man said to serve clients, his company has listed some 50 specific games for team-building activities which follow the characteristics of each company.

andnbsp;“MICE tourists demand high standards. They want to stay at four or five star resorts and require organizers to satisfy their needs. We have to try to find something new to appeal to them and make them come back to us when they intend to take another MICE tour,” an executive of a tour operator said.
