Chinese Space Adventures on the way

Space travel is closer than we think, as Chinese tourists could be heading out on interplanetary holidays within a decade, according to a space tourism group.

Working at the only company currently offering private space flights, Space Adventures chairman Eric Anderson said the Group hopes to send Chinese holidaymakers into space within ten years, Xinhua New Agency reported.

Mr Anderson told attendees at the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) that while a two-week space trip can cost up to $50 million, the company is looking at options for less fortunate people.

"We are designing some itineraries which may only last a couple of minutes and which will be at a much lower cost of $100.000-200.000,” Mr Anderson added.“And we may also offer free space travel for ordinary people through a lucky draw.”
