Tourism set to boost employee rewards in Sri Lanka

More jobs and employee benefits in the Asia Pacific region may be created as a result of Sri Lanka's growing tourism industry.According to Professor G. L. Peiris, the country's minister of external affairs, tourists are being attracted to Sri Lanka's eastern coast in huge numbers.

The minister says hotels are also undergoing refurbishment, which could result in new jobs and employee benefits in popular areas such as Trincomalee.

Professor Peiris explained: "Trincomalee is a very beautiful part of the country... [it] is now the epicentre for tourism."The whole eastern region of Sri Lanka is "coming alive", he added.Growing tourist numbers may boost employee rewards for hotel workers on the east coast.

According to the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), Sri Lanka has seen a 46 per cent increase in arrivals compared to last year.The Asia Pacific region has seen a seven per cent year-on-year expansion in visitor numbers overall.
