Lao: Khammouane finalises Nam Theun 2 tourism zoning

Khammouane province has confirmed its achievement in devising a plan on managing and developing tourism areas in the Nam Theun 2 reservoir areas.The Khammouane Provincial Tourism Service held a meeting to discuss tourism development in the province over the last one year early this month.

The participants of the meeting was told that the province had surveyed and registered 119 natural tourist sites, 25 cultural tourist sites and two historical tourist sites and the completion of devising plans on development and management of tourism sites for Hin Poune Protected Area, Nong Pafa Cave, Konglor Cave and Thakhek Ancient City and the strategy on the integration of Khammouane into the tourism market of five central provinces in line with its slogan “sing gnod gning gnou park kang khong Lao = the most priceless is in central Laos.”

Present at the meeting were Mr. Thayaphone Singthong, Head of Khammouane Provincial Tourism Service, Mr. Cheng Sayavong, Economic Consultant for Khammouane Provincial Administration Office and relevant officials of district tourism offices in the province.
