Lao: Donekhong Khonephapeng Island to develop as tourism town

A MoU on infrastructure development on 7,000 ha in Donekhong-Khonephapeng of Khong district as a tourism town and a hub of all tourism services was signed in Champassak Administration’s Office, on 24 April.

Signatories to the document were Mr. Saythong Sayavong, Head of Planning and Investment of Champassak province and Mrs. Phonekham Inthavong, President of Saonang Road, Bridge and Irrigation Construction Company in the witnesses of Mr. Sonesay Siphanhdone Champassak Governor.

Under the MoU, the contracting company will build an International Airport, infrastructure of Khong district, a five-star hotel, a trade centre and public parks.After signing ceremony, both sides will work together to survey lands for creating a master plan, an economic and technical analysis and environmental impact assessment. The result of assessment will be then proposed to the Government to consider.

This is the Government’s efforts to develop the Donekhong-Khonephapheng in Khong district of Champassak province aiming at promoting trade, investment, tourism service along common borders of Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand.
