THE World Rally Championship may be coming to the Coffs Coast in September but in the meantime the Coffs Coast is going out to the rally world.Local driver Nathan Quinn unveiled his Coffs Coast Rally Team vehicle yesterday that will be racing in the Asia/Pacific region.

The new team will be racing this weekend in the Rally of Queensland before embarking on trips to New Caledonia and New Zealand with plans being worked on to also go to Japan and Malaysia. All this on top of the World Rally event on home turf.

The talented young driver said he was thrilled when he saw the finished car that will be seen by millions of motorsport fans, not only in action but on television as well.“The colours are good, I like them,” Quinn said.“I'm glad we've got these colours for the Coffs Coast and it's going to stand out.”

The Mitsubishi Evo IX will be sponsored by local businesses being asked to put in $2500 each to fund the car. With the Coffs Coast flashing across television screens across the globe, the potential is there for local businesses to have the region promoted through one vehicle.

“If we can get the community support and the business support, which is starting to come forward, but if we can get it in greater numbers then we've got the potential here to have what I call a mobile tourism tool,” Coffs Harbour City Council Mayor Keith Rhoades said.
