Singapore's Newest Boutique Accommodation in Chinatown

Porcelain Hotel in the heart of Singapore’s historic Chinatown precinct is now open. The charming hotel combines a fascinating European 1930’s styled façade with modern contemporary interiors. A special feature at the hotel is its signature spa – Huang Ah Ma (Manchurian traditional expression for Royal Father), which has Eastern-inspired massage treatments.

Ms Ying Na, Manager of the hotel, says “We have been seeing high occupancy levels of over 85% since the hotel’s soft opening earlier this year. Many of the hotel bookings are via the Internet due to Porcelain Hotel’s unique location and facilities.”

Declared as a national conservation site by Singapore’s Urban Redevelopment Authority, the Chinatown area was home to many early Chinese immigrants and had its share of opium smoking dens and bullock carts. The hotel’s location at Mosque Street, once the site of 10 stables, was named after Jamae Mosque which was completed in 1830 by the Chulia Muslims from South India.

The hotel is strategically located within a two-minute walking distance from the Chinatown MRT (subway), at the heart of one of Singapore’s well-loved preservation areas. Other attractions surrounding the district also include the Chinatown Heritage Centre, Chinatown Food Street and the Chinatown Night Market.

Ms Wendy Ho, CEO of Mary Chia Holdings says “The Oriental spa concept is a signature feature of the hotel and will have different themed facial and body treatments using precious stones of pearls, jade and rose quartz to rejuvenate, heal and detoxify skin.”

Huang Ah Ma’s signature treatments include the Rose Quartz Crystal Face Spa that helps to detoxify and relax skin; the Pearl of the Oriental which helps to prevent pigmentation while protecting the skin against harmful sun rays; and Gold Coin Face Spa that relieves stress and tone muscles for a radiant and glowing complexion, just to name but a few.

Published rates start at $200++ with a variety of room configuration to choose from. The compact standard and superior rooms are sized at 7-14 sq m, while larger executive and premier rooms are sized up to 25sq m.
