Vietnam arrivals increase in May

Vietnam National Administration of Tourism estimates international travellers in May reached 480,886 representing an increase of 37.01% from 350,982 visits during the same month, last year, the agency reported Tuesday.Thailand's outbound trips to Vietnam were enough to return it to the top 10 list after it slipped offandnbsp; Vietnam's arrivals ranking in March and April.
Thailand's outbound market supplied 14,660 visits as the 10th top market. However, it decreased 28.49% from 18,837 visits, during the same month last year, when it ranked in eighth place.China remains the top supplier in May with 130,713 visits showing a remarkable improvement of 144.85% from 53,385 visits in 2010, followed by South Korea, Japan, US, Cambodia, and Taiwan.
Neighbouring Cambodia was in fifth place, supplying 30,635 visits, increasing 92.50% from 15,915 visits in 2010.All of the top markets are in the Asia/Pacific region with the exception of the United States and France.
From January to May, arrivals reached 2,518,854 visits improving 17.98% over 2,134,814 visits during the same period last year.The bulk of arrivals in May (400,325) passed through the two main aviation gateways Hanoi and Ho Chi Min City.VNAT updated its data on the website, Tuesday, sourced from the government statistics office.
