Malaysia will enhance air traffic rights for passenger and cargo services between Kuala Lumpur and Manila.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha said that following air negotiations with the Philippines, both countries had agreed to enhance third and fourth traffic rights for passenger services for the route.
Both countries had also reaffirmed the enhanced third, fourth and fifth traffic rights for cargo services through the Asean Accord, he said in a statement today.
He said that with the agreement, airlines from both countries would have the flexibility to increase flight frequency and capacity between Malaysia and the Philippines.This would help boost bilateral tourism, trade and economic relations, he said.
During the air negotiation, the Malaysian delegation was headed by the Transport Ministry's Air Division Secretary P. Chandrasekaran while the Philippines by its Transportation and Communications Department Undersecretary Glicerio V. Sicat.
