Myanmar Airways buys aircraft

Myanmar Airways has signed off on an agreement to buy two ARJ-21 from Chinese manufacturer Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC).China's Xinhua reported, earlier this week, the state-owned aircraft manufacturer, COMAC,andnbsp; has agreed to sell two ARJ21-700 aircraft to the Myanmar Airways, which is the state owned domestic carrier.
The airline concentrates on domestic routes, but is usually designated as the government's official joint venture partner for other airlines serving Myanmar.No details on the actual value of the deal were posteda on the website of the country's State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission.
The delivery time for the two aircraft was also not disclosed, but the statement said the deal was part of COMAC sales strategy to introduce the aircraft to overseas markets.The ARJ21 is China's first homegrown commercial regional aircraft, which made an international debut at the Zhuhai air show last November.
The 78- to 90-seat aircraft has a maximum flight range of 3,700 km and maximum altitude of 11,900 meters. The statement said COMAC plans to deliver its first ARJ21-700 regional aircraft to Chengdu Airlines.Customers outside of China that bought smaller aircraft from COMAC include Lao Airlines (two), the United Statesandnbsp; GECAS five plus 20 on option and Indonesia's mining company, Merkukh Enterprises (nine).
