Tourism Minister's Overseas Visits Amount To RM92,102 This Year

The Tourism Ministry spent RM92,102.10 for official visits by its minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen to two countries in West Asia this year.
In her written reply to Loke Siew Fook (DAP-Rasah) in the Dewan Rakyat, Ng said that accompanied by a senior ministry official, she had led a Malaysian tourism promotion mission to the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2011 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from May 3 to 6.
From May 7 to 9, she had led a Malaysian promotion mission to Tehran, Iran to boost tourist arrivals from West Asia to this country, she said."Eighty-seven organisations comprising 51 hotels, 26 tour agencies, nine state governments and the Malaysian Airlines participated in the ATM 2011 at their own costs," she said.
Loke had wanted to know the complete details of all official visits abroad by the Tourism Minister from January to May 2011.For the Chelsea Flower Show promotion in London, United Kingdom from May 22 to 28, Ng said she attended it during her vacation to that country and all expenses were borne by her personally.
