Singapore Airlines and Spain Tourist Board Sign Agreement

The Spain Tourism Board has signed an agreement with Singapore Airlines to try to help each other get business. This means that both will try to find new ways to get traffic to Spain using the airlines route from Singapore to Barcelona.

Both will be spending money on advertising and other promotions and they will also be working with the media and trade to make people aware of the route. It has increased in popularity over the years, with the original thrice weekly flights in 2006 now being expanded to seven times a week. The planes being used are also better and bigger leading to a reduction in costs.

Once in Barcelona, Singapore Airlines customers can take connecting flights to Madrid, Palma de Mallorca and Bilbao using Spanair which has a code share agreement with Singapore Airlines. Barcelona also links to Sao Paulo using a Singapore Airlines flight. Director of the Spain Tourism Board, Angela Castano, has said that this agreement means a lot to them as they hope it will encourage tourists from Asia to travel to Spain and enjoy everything that the country has to offer.

Senior vice President of Marketing for Singapore airlines, Tan Chik Quee, agreed that the partnership was important and illustrated their confidence in Spain. They regard the country as a good destination, being attractive for business and leisure travellers and also having a lot to offer.
