China drives visits to Vietnam

Vietnam National Administration of Tourism estimates international travellers in June reached 446,966 visits representing an improvement of 18.97% over 375,707 visits during the same month last year.However, Thai visits to Vietnam declined taking it off Vietnam's top 10 arrivals ranking for the third time this year. Vietnam provides details of just the top 10 markets in its monthly reports.
In May, the last time the Thai market appeared on the list, it supplied 14,660 visits, down 28.49% from 18,837 visits during the same month in 2010.China remains the top supplier in June with 115,621 visits showing an improvement of 61.21% from 71,719 visits in 2010, followed by South Korea, Japan, US, Taiwan and Australia.
Neigbouring Cambodia, in seventh place, supplied 38,628 visits increasing 87.78% from 20,571 visits. Singapore moved into 10th place with 18,110 visits.All of the top markets are in the Asia/Pacific region with exception of the United States and France.
From January to June, arrivals reached 2,965,820 visits improving 18.14% on 2,510,521 visits over the same period last year.The bulk of arrivals in June (370,966) passed through the two main aviation gateways Hanoi and Ho Chi Min city.VNAT updated its data on website, last week, sourced from the government statistic office.
