From August 27 to September 2, the northwestern province of Son La will promote the tourism potential of the region under the program ‘Crossing Tay Bac-Son La 2011’.
The northwestern mountainous region comprises the four provinces of Hoa Binh, Son La, Dien Bien and Lai Chau. The program covers a number of activities including the opening ceremony, trade fair, cultural camp along with market-days of tourism and agro-products and photo exhibitions.
The program is expected to help the northwestern provinces improve their tourism industry. Accordingly, relevant authorities look to exploit natural sightseeing areas, traditional customs, cultural characters of ethnic groups and historical destinations.
The event is aimed at attracting foreign and local visitors and contributing to reducing poverty and helping in the job creation and tourism development of the region.
