Philippine tourism gets new head honcho

RAMON Reyes Jimenez Jr. has been appointed as acting secretary of the Philippines’ Department of Tourism.

His predecessor Alberto Lim resigned last month, citing personal reasons for the decision (TTG Asia e-Daily, August 12).

Jimenez has been in the field of marketing communications for a total of 35 years, having spent most of his professional career as a writer, creative director, or executive for the top advertising agencies in the Philippines.

Before his appointment as tourism secretary, Jimenez was joint CEO and senior consultant at WOO Consultants.

He was joint executive chairman of his own advertising agency, JimenezBasic Advertising, from 1989 to 2008.

He worked as vice president/executive creative director for Ace Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising from 1976 to 1989.
