2011 Taiwan Tourism Workshop

Last night the Taiwan Tourism Bureau invited Taiwan-based land, hotel and air operators to showcase their products to the travel trade at the Tea Rooms in Sydney’s QVB.

Pearl Lee, Manager, Taiwan Tourism Sydney says tourism from Australia to Taiwan is up and the total inbound figure is increasing (8.94%). We will continue to invest in this market to promote “Taiwan as the best kept holiday destination secret”.

There are more than 50 ways to have fun in Taiwan including the natural landscape, scenic beauty, culture, shopping and food. Taiwan is such a safe destination, our infrastructure is second to none, and it’s very affordable said Ms Lee.

Last night saw the launch of their new logo “Taiwan, The heart of Asia” and new slogan “Time for Taiwan” celebrating the centennial year of the founding of their democratic society. “We welcome you and hope you enjoy our beautiful island and country” says Ms Jean Chang, Taiwan Delegation leader.

Frances Lee - Director General, Taipei Economic & Cultural Office says “In Taiwan you will see the essence of Chinese culture mixed with Western civilisation and our Aboriginal heritage. However there is more, Taiwan is a niche tourism product. Adventure Tourism is innumerable, you will see wildlife parks, river sanctuaries and ocean activities different from Australia. Another emerging niche area I want introduce is medical tourism. Taiwan possess a distinct advantage, the Taiwan Government has made tremendous advancement in this area, our health care industry offers very high quality treatment with reasonable rates. I strongly recommend that you enjoy this advantage” said Ms Lee.

Guests were entertained by the Taiwanese Hand Puppet Theatre and the Magical Balloon man Mr Lee Shen-Tang.
