Tourism Malaysia office opens in Auckland

Responding to a large increase in arrivals from New Zealand, Tourism Malaysia has recently opened a tourism office in Auckland, New Zealand.

Arrivals from New Zealand rose by 47% year on year from April to June and Tourism Malaysia is hoping to capitalise on this to establish Malaysia as a destination of choice for tourists from New Zealand.

Easier accessibility over the years with the launch of low cost carriers such as JetStar from Auckland and AirAsia from Christchurch to Kuala Lumpur and a favourable exchange rate have made Malaysia attractive to New Zealand holidaymakers, despite continual competition from more traditional 'Kiwi' holidays destinations such as Australia and the Pacific Islands.

Tourism Malaysia aims to strengthen its promotional and marketing efforts with airline partners, tour operators and key industry players to promote tourism in Malaysia to New Zealanders.
