The Philippine Consulate General in Macau reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) that the Department of Tourism (DOT), through Assistant Secretary Benito Bengzon, led the "Visit Philippine Campaign" in meeting with around 30 Macau travel agents, airline representatives and other partners last October 21 at the Star World Hotel in Macau.
The Consulate also reported that tourism officials made a video presentation in the hotel entitled "The Philippines: a New Destination in Asia", on Philippine sights and places of interest.
Included in the delegation were industry leaders and representatives of hotels and tourism establishments in Cebu, one of the featured premiere tourism cities.
The trip, which is part of the government's Philippine Tourism Development Plan, coincided with the announcement and the first Macau foray of the newly appointed DOT representative in Hong Kong, Mr. David Leung.

In the meeting at the Consulate with Assistant Secretary Bengzon and tourism partners, it was emphasized that the future of Philippine-Macau tourism depends on the cooperation of all stakeholders in the field.
Macau is a vibrant tourism economy with direct links to the Chinese mainland.
In facilitating the visit, exchange of ideas and networking, the Consulate stated that it endeavors to promote Philippine tourism as part of economic diplomacy.
Affluent Macanese form a significant segment of the tourism industry in Asia. Tourism agents intend to tap tourists visiting Macau and include a visit to the Philippines as part of their itinerary
Macau receives almost 2.2 million Chinese tourists a month from mainland China.
