The Pahang's domestic tourism has registered an impressive growth due to cooperation between the state government and the Tourism Ministry, said Tourism Malaysia's director of Domestic Marketing Division Musa Yusof.

Speaking to reporters after closing the 1Malaysia Cuti-Cuti Expedition at Janda Baik near here last night, he said the ministry encouraged Malaysians to visit scenic and interesting places in the country.

The expedition was jointly organised by the Tourism Ministry and Gaya Travel magazine.

Meanwhile, State Tourism, Arts and Heritage, Family Development and Women Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Shafik Fauzan Sharif said Pahang earned RM6.7 million in revenue from tourism from January to September this year.

He said this was due to vigorous efforts in promoting highland tourist spots such as Cameron Highlands, Fraser Hills, Berjaya Hills, Genting Highlands, Janda Baik and Tanah Aina, including homestay, besides islands like Pulau Tioman.

On the expedition, he said it helped raised the people's awareness on the natural beauty of Pahang as well its tourism promotion efforts.
