Vietnam National Administration of Tourism estimates the country welcomed 518,477 international travellers in October representing an increase of 17.82% from 440,071 visits in the same month last year.
The Thai travel market was in 10th place, supplying 15,280 visits, but was 21.49% down from 19,463 visits when the market ranked eighth during October last year.
China continues as the top supplier with 145,564 visits in October, showing an improvement of 51.84% from 95,869 visits in 2010 followed by South Korea, Japan, US, Cambodia and Taiwan.
Neighbouring Cambodia reached fifth place supplying 38,795 visits and increasing 41.21% from 27,474 visits.
All of the top markets are in the Asia/Pacific region with the exception of the United State and France.
For January to October international travellers show an improvement of 15.79% from 4,830,604 visits compared to 4,171,990 visits over the same period last year.
The bulk of arrivals in October (445,612) passed through the two main aviation gateways Hanoi and Ho Chi Min City.
