Vietnam registers 42% growth

Vietnam National Administration of Tourism estimates the country welcomed 611,864 international travellers in November representing an improvement of 42.86% compared to 428,295 visits during the same month last year.

Thai travelers were in 10th place registering 20,198 visits to Vietnam a slight decrease 0.30% from 20,258 visits when the market ranked eighth place during the same month last year.

China continues as the top supplier in November with 152,031 visits showing a massive increase of 148.08% from 61,282 visits in 2010 followed by South Korea, Japan, US, Cambodia and Taiwan.

Neighbouring Cambodia gained fifth place supplying 40,571 visits and a remarkable increase of 148.52% from 16,325 visits.

All of the top markets are in the Asia/Pacific region with the exception of the United States and France.

For January to November, international travellers showed an improvement of 17.83% from 5,420,624 visits compared to 4,600,285 visits over the same period last year.

The bulk of arrivals in November (514,094) passed through the two main aviation gateways Hanoi and Ho Chi Min City.

This year, Vietnam should welcome 5.3 to 5.5 million international travellers to the country.

In 2010, there were 5,049,855 foreign tourists visit the country increasing 33.86% from 3,772,359 visits in 2009.
