Danang gains flights

AirAsia commenced service, last Friday, from Kuala Lumpur to Danang, a Vietnamese central coastal province.

The sister carrier, Thai AirAsia has also eyed the Bangkok-Danang route, but a launch date has not been confirmed. The route was served by PB Air from 2007 until 2009, when the airline closed for good.

Including AirAsia, Danang is now served by three airlines operating scheduled services. Silk Air operates flights from Singapore via Siem Reap and Shanghai Airlines from Shanghai.

AirAsia serves Danang four times a week departing Kuala Lumpur at 0730 and Danang at 0945. The flight time is two hours and 40 minutes.

“We expect to achieve a load factor of 80% between KL and Danang,” said AirAsia regional head, commercial, said Kathleen Tan.

“Combine the presence of international hotel brands, three UNESCO World Heritage sites and new golf courses designed by some of the game’s biggest names, and we have every reason to believe Danang is going to be a popular destination for us.”
