Taiwan Tourism Bureau announced yesterday, December 28, 2011, that they have reached a historical record-breaking number of 6 million foreign visitors to their island. The milestone was celebrated with a promotion specifically designed to welcome Ms. Heek-Yung Kim from Seoul, South Korea, as the 6 millionth visitor to Taiwan.

Upon her arrival at the Taoyaun International Airport, Taipei, at 11:40 a.m., Ms Kim was informed that she was the lucky number 6 millionth visitor to Taiwan, and was immediately greeted by a traditional Taiwanese lion dance at the airport. “I am too excited to believe it,” Ms. Kim said, raising her hands high in the air when immigration officials informed her of the surprise news.

Mr. David Hsieh, Deputy Director-General of Taiwan Tourism Bureau, presented Ms. Kim with a beautiful bouquet of exotic flowers, a commemorative trophy and special gifts valued at NT $600,000 (U.S. $19,811). Ms. Kim’s royal treatment continues this Friday, December 30, 2011, with an exclusive invitation to attend a press conference held at The Executive Yuan, the highest administrative organization of Republic of China (Taiwan).

During her 6 days stay in Taiwan, Ms. Kim is scheduled to visit the world-renowned Taipei National Palace Museum, taste the famous soup dumplings at Din Tai Fong in Taipei, and visit popular night markets to eat local foods of Taiwan.
