LUANG PRABANG SPENDS 400 MLN KIP FOR BETTER TOURISM FACILITIES

The Tourism Division of Luang Prabang province has spent 400 million kip on repairing and rebuilding facilities at the Kouangsy Waterfall previously destroyed by tropical typhoons Haima and Nockten to better service visitors which are increasing in number on an annual basis.

The repaired and rebuilt include main gate and bailey bridge of the waterfall, according to Director of the Tourism Division of Luang Prabang province Mr. Khampouy Phommavong.

The bridge is designed to have a 1.5 m width and 45 m length. Its construction completion was within a period of three months by local contractor Houngvilay Construction.

“This year is Visit Laos Year 2012 and the Tourism Division of Luang Prabang province will further develop tourist destinations in 12 districts to attract both domestic and foreign visitors and encourage domestic tourists to buy tourism service or products under a slogan “Laos visit Laos” to strengthen and ensure sustainability of tourism in the country,” said Khampouy.
