Thai AirAsia adds new routes

Thai AirAsia will launch two services to Chennai in India and Chongqing in China from 23 March. Seat reservations are now available with introductory fares on sale until 14 February.

Thai AirAsia will be the only carrier operating a nonstop service from Thailand to Chongqing in southwest China and the second carrier on the Bangkok-Chennai route besides Thai Airways International (daily).

Earlier, the carrier announced it was halting its Delhi service 24 March after it reduces from daily service to four flights a week 14 February. It keeps the daily service to Kolkata.

Thai AirAsia CEO Tassapon Bijleveld stated: “Both India and China are very important markets for us. Their population and status as rising economic powers promise a growth in demand for travel between Thailand and these economic gateways…”

Thai AirAsia will serve Chennai five times a week, while Chongqing will start with daily services.

The Chennai bound flight will depart Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday at 1900 and arrive at 2115. The Bangkok-bound flight will depart at 2200 and arrive at 0300 on the following day.

The flight to Chongqing will depart daily at 0620 and arrive at 1020, while the return flight will depart at 0110 and arrive in Bangkok at 1310.

So far, Thai AirAsia has announced five new destinations of which two are domestic   — Trang (15 Janaury), Nakhon Phanom (15 February). The others are regional starting with Colombo, Sri Lanka, (1 March).

The One-way introductory fare to Chennai is Bt1,990 and Chongqing, Bt1,490, available for bookings until 14 February for travel 23 March to 27 October.
