The Federal Tourism Minister has called on Tasmanian tourism operators to adjust their products to suit international markets.
Martin Ferguson was in Tasmania to launch a new round of federal tourism grants that give businesses up to $100,000 to improve their product.
He said he hoped the grants would help operators keep up with the changing market.
"Internationally the tourism market is going through a process of restructure," Mr Ferguson said.
"The global economy in North America and Europe at the moment is very poor but in Asia and we're part of Asia, you've got a growing middle class. Last year the growth out of China was 20 per cent."
