Cathay Pacific Airways will add an extra flight on the Hong Kong-Bangkok route from 25 March.
It will give the airline six flights daily between Hong Kong and Bangkok, instead of five to cater to an increase in demand between the two destinations. All major airlines serving the route are reconsidering frequencies in the region and announcements are expected soon. They are adjusting to the travel growth in Asia, while recognising bookings on long-haul routes to Europe and North America are soft and yields low.
The new flight will depart Hong Kong at 0940 and arrive in Bangkok at 1125. The return flight will leave from Bangkok at 1240 and land at 1625.
Other carriers operating nonstop services to Hong Kong are: Thai Airways International (five daily); Thai Airasia (twice daily); Hong Kong Airlines (twice daily); Emirates ( daily); Ethiopian Airlines ( four weekly); Kenya Airways (three weekly) and Pakistan International Airlines (twice weekly).
