British Airways revamps first

17 Feb 2010  2112 | World Travel News

British Airways? new first class service was launched earlier this week on a Boeing 777 bound for Chicago in the United States.

The airline invested ?100 million on the remake. Features include: A 60% wider bed at the shoulders; personal wardrobe; personal electronic blinds; a 15? in-flight entertainment screen.

Passengers buy a suite rather than a seat that has its own wardrobe, a leather-bound writing desk that converts into a dining table. A seat control unit replaces the switches to activate the bed and gives the customer precision control over the seat position and pneumatic panels to support the head and lumbar positions.

The roll out of the new first class experience will take 18 months to two years, about average for a new product refit. The first aircraft fitted with the new cabin is not route specific, so there are no details on when the new first class will be available in the Thai market.
