Isan trips top TTF show

BANGKOK, 5 June 2012: Six tourism packages featuring Northeast provinces will be highlighted at the Thailand Tourism Festival 2012, 6 to 8 June, at the IMPACT Muang Thong Thani.

The six routes will be sold by leading tourism organisations; Association of Domestic Travel (ADT), the Thai Ecotourism and Adventure Travel Association (TEATA), the Association of Thai Tour Operator (ATTO) and the Thai Tourism Promotion Association (TTPA).

They are positioned as quality tourism routes that focus on attractions that won recognition at the annual Thailand Tourism Awards and reflect the sufficiency economy philosophy of His Majesty the King.

Two routes will be sold by ADT, two by TICA and one each by the TTPA and ATTO.

ADT routes:

• Buriram – Surin – Sisaket highlights the Ban Chang Ta Klang Elephant Village in Surin. The trip also features historic places such as Phanom Rung temple.  The trip costs Bt4,299 for the travelling period 23 June to 25 June;

• Nakhon Ratchasima – Ubon Ratchathani focuses on the Thai tradition of making candle wax and carving candles to mark the Buddhist Lent. (Bt5,900; travelling period from 27 July to 30 July).

TEATA routes:

• Loei – Nhong Khai – Udon Thani highlights the famous Phi Ta Khon Festival in Dansai district, Loei province as well as a visit to the Organic Agricultural Centre “Por Pieng Yieng Poh” (Bt5,900; travelling period from 22 to 25 June);

• Nakhon Ratchashima – Chaiyaphum focuses on Isan lifestyles from growing rice to hunting. The trip will also bring visitors to see the Siam Lotus, or Krajiew flowers, which normally blooms during rainy season. (Bt5,299; travelling period from 2 to 5 August).

The single route offered by TTPA is Sakon Nakhon – Nakhon Phanom – Mukdahan to highlight sufficiency agriculture in mushroom farming as well as paying respect to Buddha relics at famous temples. (Bt5,990; travelling period from 2 to 5 August).

ATTO offers the route Maha Sarakham – Roi Et – Khon Kean focusing on Isan heritage at the Baan Isan Museum as well as paying homage to respected Buddha’s relics and sacred temples along the way. It includes a silk weaving demonstration. (Bt4,499; travelling period from 11 to 13 August ).
